Restaurant chains are usually (well, more often than not) snubbed for apparently not serving up quality food. And yes I have been one of those from time to time. And yes I have also been one of those who have been proven wrong from time to time. We arrived at a local restaurant chain …

They strive on promoting their super affordable and wide selections of mini baguette sandwiches … for as low as 1€ for a sandwich Cerveceria 100 Montaditios is a real deal in the city. That’s why is is one of the more popular spots around.  Hey, who doesn’t love a great deal ???

You basically fill your order form, pass it on to the barista, pay and give them your table number. Well in my case I did not know the number and gave them my name instead. A while later they were shouting out my name which was kinda weird because there were not many people around. Anyway .. back to the sandwiches, you can choose from about 100 different things to go with the mini baguette. We got the jamon de iberico (of course!) and a Spanish omelet. Fragrant warm bread with flavourful fillings … they were both really something .. and it comes with crisps !!

I also took the opportunity to order a drink but wasn’t sure what I wanted to have, so I casually marked against the box with a “cool” sounding name for a drink and hoped for the best. My money was on Cola-Cao !!! While I was patiently waiting for the barista to prepare my drink order I saw her warm up a glass of milk, place it on a saucer and cover it with a yellow packet. I had just ordered a pack of instant cocoa much to Bernie’s amusement of course ….

So that was that … hahaaaaa …

The weather was great for sitting outside. Inside the decor was simple and straight to the point. But nevertheless it’s the sandwiches and its prices that take the prize !

Apart from the drink order, the sandwiches were really good. It just goes to show that as long as a concept is done well, chain or not it will be good.
